village dating back more than 7000 years. The modern Mailhac surrounds the ramparts of a more ancient village which is amongst the most interesting in France.
The original village was built of wood and was situated in the adjacent hills, but after having been burnt to the ground numerous times, it was moved onto the plain and built of the more durable local stones.
It is located within easy reach of the places for all of the varied activities that you can enjoy in the magical valley of the Aude.
