Activities/Attractions: Drimoleague is located on the R586, about 60km west of Cork city, and almost equidistant by 12km each, from the busy market towns of Bantry, Skibbereen and Dunmanway. It is to be found in the River Ilen basin, and its main street stretches out alongside one of its fast flowing tributaries, the Ruagach.

Its location formed the natural junction for the Bantry and Skibbereen branches of the West Cork Railway, whose arrival here in 1880 transformed a scattered hamlet into a thriving village. The village itself has undergone a huge face-lift in recent years. It is a strong community, proud of its past and welcoming to newcomers.

For the adventure enthusiast in you, there is walking, cycling and cross country running in the challenging landscape surrounding us. If you would like to stay on a working cattle farm with sheep, ducks and our dog “Daisy”, the Top of the Rock is the place for you…and remember, it’s a place for all seasons!

Our Walking Centre is a large multipurpose space occupying the first floor of our main Pod Páirc building. It can hold up to 80 people for a function, yet it is equally suited to a small group sitting round having coffee. A bright well-appointed room, it has a panoramic view over the hills and valleys towards Castledonovan.

General Information: Welcome to Top of the Rock Pod Páirc and Walking Centre in Drimoleague, Co. Cork, Ireland ... a microcosm of all that is good about a West Cork village - a vibrant and caring community set in a delightful countryside location, yet very accessible to main routes and public transport.

Set in a unique family farm setting, this new Pod Páirc is situated in the heart of beautiful West Cork near Ireland's Atlantic coast. Our farm is set amongst nine miles of walking trails. Our Pod Páirc is a safe and homely place for your family holiday or weekend away. It is also a perfect venue for couples with miles of walkways and river banks to wander along.

Pods are new to this island, and our Pod Páirc is one of a kind in Ireland, but the idea to create a pod originated in the mind of civil engineer Ian Bone while he was on holiday near the Gallarus Oratory beyond Dingle, Co. Kerry many years ago. The arrival of THE POD in Ireland somehow resonates with our landscape.

Each pod has soft lighting, an oil-filled radiator and two electric sockets. All pods are situated in their own private lawn area with space for your car, and a picnic table. We also have one family room in the main building, which can hold two adults and three children. Facilities include:

  • Shower block situated on the ground floor of the main building
  • Self-catering Camper’s Kitchen
  • Laundry Room
  • Games Room
  • Children’s Play Area
  • Campfire Area
  • Home Baking and breakfast needs
  • Walking Centre facilities
