Activities/Attractions: Dorset′s spectacular coastline makes up part of England′s first natural world Heritage site, The Jurassic Coast line. The Lugger Inn is situated just outside of Weymouth. Chickerell was originally a fishing village with connections to the Fleet and Moonfleet, famous for its little church where Blackbeard supposedly buried his treasures. Chickerell is now a commuter area convenient for both Weymouth and the Roman town of Dorchester. It has a strong village community and plenty of local activities including its own carnival, Dorset league football club, horse riding stables and youth club to name but a few.
Nearby Weymouth is a busy summer holiday resort catering for all types of visitors. Further on can be found the Isle of Portland famous for its stone (once used to build St Paul′s Cathedral among many of the other famous buildings throughout the country).
To the west there are many picturesque villages the prettiest of which is probably Abbotsbury with its swanery, Tythe Barn and sub tropical gardens. The towns Chesil beach runs from Portland 18 miles west along the coast towards Bridport. Access between Portland and Abbotsbury can only be gained by crossing the Fleet (a stretch of tidal water home to many types of birds and sea life). Inland can be found the historic town of Dorchester famous for its Roman connections and of course the birth place of Thomas Hardy, the famous writer.
The Lugger Inn is very close to Weymouth Golf Club and we are very happy to book your preferred tee off time. The Lugger Inn is also ideally situated for walks along the South West Coastal Path.
" We were made very welcome and comfortable, the food was good, that meant that we didn't feel the need to go out in the evening as the it was good value, very friendly. The Lugger Inn is in a very quiet setting although only yards off the main road and offers plenty of parking. Also nice accommodation, and must mention towels changed daily and nice clean bedding. Yes, for us we will visit again."
"Wow the food is just beautiful. Credit to the chefs we've been eating here for the past few months and the new owners are lovely. They have definitely turned the place around. Always a friendly team of staff who are more than happy to help. We are locals and love coming here."
"Rooms good size and very clean. Staff very helpful. Food was great, no problems at all!"
"They say a company's staff is it's greatest asset, well I would agree with that for this small hotel. The staff were helpful, and considerate from the start. We have never thought of going to Weymouth for a holiday, but having found this gem we may well."
"Room very clean. Staff could not have been more helpful obliging and friendly. lovely breakfast with lots of options. We will visit again."
"We only stayed for one night but would like to stay longer next time. The room was clean and tidy with an excellent power shower. The food in the restaurant was fantastic accompanied by a good selection of local real ales."

"We had a fabulous time. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, our room spacious and very clean and fantastic value for money if you stayed for the very tasty breakfast. We also stayed in one evening for our main meal and found the menu to be very extensive and our chosen meals delicious. The little pub had a marvelous atmosphere which seemed to appeal to many of the locals also. Thank you all at The Lugger for making our stay a great experience and for showing that nothing, really, was too much trouble."
"We came on the 15th July with our 2 children to celebrate my 40th, the service was wonderful, even bringing colouring stuff for our 3 year old, and the food was outstanding, so much so we returned the following night, and although we hadn't booked for the next evening they still found room for us and the food was wonderful again. We cant fault the Lugger Inn and would recommend anyone visiting the area to go there for a meal. We found the staff very friendly and service was fantastic."
