Activities/Attractions: The Cook Islands is a net of 15 islands in the heart of the South Pacific spread over an area the size of India with a population no bigger than a small New Zealand country town, 16,000 souls. These unique and friendly Polynesians have their own language and government and enjoy a vigorous and diverse culture with significant differences between each island.

Rarotonga in the Cook Islands is a place where gentle sea breezes drift through wide open doors, the murmur of the lagoon's crystal clear waters ruffle the soft white sand and curving palm trees provide dappled sunlight on your personal piece of beach.

Despite some 100,000 visitors a year to the capital island Rarotonga, the Cooks are largely unspoiled by tourism. They offer a rare opportunity for people from the cities of the world to experience a different type of vacation. The entire island has a truly relaxed atmosphere that is increasingly hard to find on our planet. It is an idyllic place for travellers seeking lost horizons and for those interested in the ways of Polynesia.

Rarotonga, with its jagged peaks, deep valleys, fertile slopes of red earth and sparkling aquamarine lagoon, is the emerald jewel of the Pacific. Rarotonga rises 14,750 feet above the ocean floor and is just 20 miles (32 kilometres) in circumference. The island is surrounded by a lagoon which extends several hundred yards to the reef which then slopes steeply to deep water.

Avarua township is located only 8 minutes drive where you will find a wide variety of local art & craft shops, banks, a cinema complex, cafés, bars and supermarkets. The airport and golf course are situated 5 minutes away, as are a number of the island’s best restaurants.

Weddings can be very difficult to plan and organise remotely. This is where Sunset Resort can help alleviate the stress by taking care of all you arrangements from accommodation and reception to the wedding ceremony.
