Activities/Attractions: Six miles east of Ennis lies the picturesque village of Quin. This peaceful village with a small population of about 240 residents is rapidly developing into a tourist centre. Popular amongst fishermen with all year round fishing along the River Rine, Quin has also developed into an equestrian centre with a number of stud farms in the area.

However it's the huge historical presence in Quin and its surrounding areas that attracts many visitors to the village every year. The site of Ireland's greatest ever discovery of prehistoric gold workings, some of which can be seen today in the National Museum in Dublin, Quin also boasts the best preserved Abbey of the Mid-West Region. Quin Abbey founded in 1433 housed many Franciscan monks over the centuries until 1820 when the last monk, Father Hogan, whose burial site can be visited in the Abbey, died. This Abbey along with the 13th century Gothic style church lying adjacent to it attracts many visitors who come to climb the spiral staircase and explore how the monks lived and view the surrounding countryside.

Ennis has a colourful past and takes its name from "Inis", which is the Gaelic name for Island, due to its situation between two streams of the River Fergus. The Ennis Friary was founded by the O'Brien Kings of Thomond in the 13th Century and is now under the care of the Office of Public Works. It has numerous 15/16th Century sculptures carved in the local hard limestone. Visitors can see the figure of St. Francis, The Virgin Mary and Child.

"Ardsollus was a perfect spot for our final night in Ireland. It's only 15 minutes from Shannon Airport, removing any stress from our final morning. The farmhouse does feel like a family home, and the room was comfortable. Loreto is a lovely hostess, and we very much enjoyed meeting her and her son."

"This 5th generation farm house is just 15 minutes away from Shannon airport, yet it's in the country surrounded by rolling farm land. This was where my family and I stayed on our last night in Ireland, and it was simply delightful. The house is furnished with beautiful antiques, and all the rooms have bathrooms attached. It was definitely the most attractive B&B we stayed in on our 10 day Ireland vacation. Loreto and Pat were both very gracious and welcoming, and Loreto even made us a reservation at an outstanding restaurant in Quin, called the Gallery (one of our best meals in Ireland! Perfect for celebrating my in-laws wedding anniversary). I wished we could have stayed at Ardsollus longer, and when we plan a future trip back to Ireland, we will definitely try and stay longer than one night."

"Loreto is such a nice hostess - the breakfasts were amazing - no need to eat lunch most days because we filled up on breakfast. She even set out food early when she knew we needed to get out the door earlier than normal. The room was clean - fresh towels every day. Loreto gave great suggestions for things to do, directions, running routes, etc. We went to Ireland 4 years ago and stayed at different B&B's each night - and we both agreed - Ardsollus Farmhouse was the best B&B we've stayed at in Ireland."

"We were thrilled with this place - loved the peaceful setting, the beauty of the interior, the quality mattresses, Loreto's hospitality. I wanted to rent a bicycle but the local shop was closed on Sunday and we were to arrive late Saturday. Loreto took care of arrangements to have it delivered the day before we arrived so that it was waiting for me. We also enjoyed the fact that breakfast was (beautifully) arranged on one large table, so that we could easily meet and talk with the other guests. Other B&B's often provided small individual tables as if sitting in a restaurant, which for me missed one of the main benefits of staying at a B&B."

"We stayed on our last night. Easy for flying out. Wonderful hosts. Very clean and updated, beautiful grounds. Great value."
