Activities/Attractions: Mykonos lies at the heart of the Cyclades group and was once a byword for trendy and chic holidays in the Med. Even by Greek standards it is an island of extremes, little more than a treeless block of granite, assaulted by the fierce summer meltemi wind and dotted with sugar cube houses bathed in a dazzling white light. Some describe Mykonos as the archetypal Greek island.

No one goes here for a cheerful, quiet holiday. It is the Mykonos beaches, the nightlife and the bodies that count. Mykonos is a place to parade and pose; a place to switch on rather than off. The basic ingredients are an outstandingly beautiful main port, a succession of sandy beaches and the attraction of the nearby sacred island of Delos. Mykonos is so beautiful, it is no accident that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world. And if you add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historic treasures of the nearby Delos to its stunning natural beauties and picturesque villages, you’ll have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday.

To call Mykonos a 'gay island' is like calling San Francisco a 'gay city'. Sure there are gay bars and homosexuality is not hidden, but unless you are looking for it you may not even notice it because above all, Mykonos is a destination for all types of people. From jet setters to college students and families, Mykonos is Greece's most well known and popular island and the people you see are from all walks of life, from every country, and sexual preference ... even priests.

"This author and his partner were at the Elysium for six nights, and each night was a treat. In spite of the rather Spartan bedding (pun intended), the staff was extremely accommodating, especially Emil by the pool and Kelly tending bar. Every sunset, all the guys in town would come up to the clifftop pool/bar and watch the sunset while having cocktails, and the mood was upbeat and friendly; although this is primarily a gay hotel, the crowd was usually mixed. In addition, we had lunch poolside on a number of occasions, and the food was restaurant quality. The Elysium had an extremely diligent staff and kept everything, including the cafe set outside on our balcony, spotlessly clean. I cannot think of staying anywhere else in Mykonos."

"The property is just lovely, and Mykonos generally is in bloom in May. The rooms are not lavish but very nicely appointed, with good size bathrooms; rooms have either a balcony or small patio for enjoying the really beautiful day and sunset views of Mykonos town below, the harbor and the islands of Delos and Syros. The patio/pool area was a great place to enjoy breakfast or drinks, and to meet people from around the world, who by and large were as happy as I was to be there."

"Had a super time. The overall value was excellent considering where you were. Just the view alone was worth the money. Our room was large and very clean, and the view from the balcony was probably one of the best in Mykonos. The staff was absolutely super and very accommodating and helpful, especially Niko at the front desk."

"Everything was great. The staff were very kind and helpful, we felt great to be there. The location is excellent, short walk to the town center and yet in a perfect position to admire the landscape. Everybody was gathering at Elysium for sunset ... it was very good. I am very happy my partner and I decided to book this hotel and we will surely return. It is just a great hotel for gay people."

"I had a blast! Stayed there by myself and found the place to be very nice and very clean. It was a typical Greek Islands kinda place ... minimalistic, but the service was excellent. Nearly all the staff was helpful and very friendly."
