Activities/Attractions: Florence is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities in Italy and the world. It gave birth to many of the men who have profoundly influenced the course of human history in every field of knowledge, art, literature and philosophy.

Close up, the city is one of Italy's most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the small late-medieval centre that contributed so much to the artistic and political development of Europe. Its striking buildings, formidable galleries and treasure-crammed churches attest to the Florentine love of display. Even long after it had set on the political and economic horizon, Florence upheld its elegant appearance: its skyline, all russet rooftops and lofty domes, is indeed picturesque.

For eye-watering attractions you won't need to venture far from Florence's centre, a medieval wonderland containing the graceful span of Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo's sky scraping dome, the gilded splendour of Basilica di San Lorenzo and the world famous Uffizi gallery.

  • We will be at your disposal for useful tips on where to go for your shopping in the main boutiques in the heart of the city: in Via Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova you will find the most famous boutiques like Gucci, Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani ... but there are plenty of nice shops at more affordable price too
  • Visits to the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries are available without waiting in line, service free of charge (you pay the ticket at the museum)
  • Wine tasting (including cooking lesson) booking service upon request
  • Discover the markets of Florence! Guided visits and food tasting around San Lorenzo and Sant'Ambrogio markets on Tuesday and Wednesday morning
  • Ask us where to have lunch or dinner, we will propose many fabulous restaurants with special price for our guests

"From the 1st enquiry to the moment we left I could not have picked a better place to stay to. Experience the delights of Florence. Arianna was just the best and most helpful contact. I emailed a lot (& I mean a lot!) trying to research perfect restaurants etc., in the end I went totally with her advice, and I am so glad I did as all restaurants were a highlight of our weekend. The Guest House itself is beautiful, so full of history and charm, aside from which it is so perfectly central to everything. When we return to Florence (as we most certainly will) we would not stay anywhere else. If you are thinking of booking then you will not regret it."

"Found Casa Rovai, Guest House to be in an ideal location, quiet area but within walking distance to the central buzz. Staff were extremely friendly, taking time to point out the 'must sees' in Florence. Local Restaurants were recommended, which we would not have found and were beautiful (ask for the steak restaurant close by, fantastic!). Continental Breakfast included a freshly baked cake, yum. Ice Cold water available all day. Rooms were extremely clean and spacious, and the original frescos on the walls in our room completed the picture. Manager, Arianna speaks fluent English, is very quick to reply to emails and just made the entire booking process very easy. If you go there, enjoy!"

"I stayed at Casa Rovai twice within a week and a half, and was welcomed back the second time like a member of the family. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, breakfast was homey and good, and the service was exemplary! Arianna couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, guiding me to one of the best restaurants, and meals, I had in all of Tuscany. In addition, she was able to help with my itinerary planning and accommodated any travel need she could. I would stay again, and recommend this to anyone travelling to Florence!"

"What a great B&B!!! The location is central, 2 minute walk to the duomo. We had the quad room, with the fresco's, WOW!!! The breakfast was continental, but definitely more than expected. This was a great B&B and I will definitely return. The proprietor was very helpful, considering we were 5 hours late they were very accommodating."

"We loved our stay at Casa Rovai. As a family travelling Europe with 2 young children, it was great to find a place that was so accommodating. They were both friendly and very knowledgeable of the area and its surroundings. They would make museum reservations, offer terrific restaurant suggestions (not the usual tourist traps) and would always go the extra mile for whatever you needed. The breakfasts are simple but delightful and complete. The rooms are charming, bright and airy - many featuring original frescos. And again, the staff are simply fantastic. The owner even rushed to the guesthouse the day of our departure to bring our daughter a parting gift - it also happened to be her birthday the next day. I can guarantee that should we make our way back to Florence, a stay at Casa Rovai will be on our itinerary."

"The B&B was superb, with very spacious rooms and a quiet environment. It is ideally located - we walked to most tourist attractions. We were also pleased with the free internet access provided. Arianna was the best! She gave us many tips like where to go for authentic yet affordable Tuscan food, reserved tickets to Uffizi and Academia for us and even found out where we should go to take the bus to the Gucci factory outlet. Her kind efforts really made our stay in Florence a memorable one. We'll definitely go back and recommend the place to anyone visiting Florence."

"Perfect location in the heart of Florence. We walked to all the major attractions, Accademia, Uffizi, Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, & the largest Jewish synagogue in Italy, and others. This is in a charming old building. The rooms were very large, very clean, and very charming. The dining room was roomy & had 2 computers for the teenagers we traveled with to use. The best part was the innkeeper, She reserved the admissions to the museums with a phone call. We arrived at the museums with no wait at all. We just walked to the front of the line. She gave us street maps that were invaluable to know where we were. The innkeeper also arranged taxis for us to visit friends we had outside of the city & taxis for us to go back to the airport at 5:00 am. We will definitely stay here again if we have the privilege to travel to Florence again."

"I found Casa Rovai’s level of service extraordinary even by B&B standards; excellent recommendations on places to eat, dinner reservations made for us, museum reservations made with good advice on which ones needed it and for which ones it would have been a waste of money, taxi reservation made for our early morning run to the airport. In addition, the entire place was quite clean, quietly elegant, and also extremely quiet - no street noise at all. Breakfast had lots of choices. This is one of the few places I have ever stayed where on a return trip I would adjust my trip schedule if necessary to be sure I could stay at Casa Rovai."

"A family-owned residence is like a B&B. The rooms have private baths. There is a common area and dining room. The breakfasts are perfect for the traveler. The people who run it are helpful and courteous."

"The six rooms offered by Casa Rovai on the second floor are spacious, clean and lovely. Twelve foot ceilings and frescoes, wall sconces, newly refurbished bathrooms, and antiques in the rooms and contemporary leather furniture in the common areas make for an eclectic but comfortable feel. Breakfast is simple but delicious. There is air conditioning in the rooms, and free internet access in the breakfast room. But the best thing about Casa Rovai is the staff. Beatrice is in charge of breakfast and also dishes out copious lovely smiles. Dara keeps the rooms clean and well-supplied, and Arianna, who speaks four languages, is perhaps the nicest, most patient, and accommodating concierge I have ever met. Her time and expertise is free, and her suggestions for where to eat and what to see were wonderful and helped us avoid some of the worst tourist crush. She suggested and made reservations for us in advance at the Accademia and Uffizi, and helped with dinner reservations as well, as we did not speak Italian. My only concern is that my complimentary review here will make Casa Rovai so popular that I will not be able to get a reservation!"
