Activities/Attractions: Swanage has a population of almost 10,000 people and in the summer months this number nearly doubles. The town is located in between the Purbeck Hills and is on the east side of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. The area has something to offer for everyone, from its award wining beaches to the beautiful countryside, there is loads to see and do. Swanage has many pubs and a night club and the area is very popular on New Years Eve with visitors coming from all over the country. Swanage has a wide range of tourist attractions:

"The couple who run the guest house were friendly and clearly committed to providing a super stay. The standard of accommodation is first class throughout. We stayed in a beautiful en-suite room, accessed through a gothic arched door. The room had a huge king-sized bed, TV, a large selection of towels, and a hot drinks tray. The standard of decoration was of a high standard – especially in the bathroom, which had a super power shower. Breakfast at Rivendell must be one of the best I have had at a guest house – and better than many starred hotels I’d stayed at!"

General Information: Welcome to Rivendell Guest House ... a 4 Star guest accommodation in Swanage, Dorset, England. Our relaxed and friendly guest house has nine bedrooms, all recently refurbished with ensuite facilities, and a guest lounge with open fire. Only 40 minutes away by car or train are the historic towns of Wareham, Poole, Dorchester and Weymouth, who will be hosts to the 2012 Olympic Sailing events.

We are perfectly situated just 5 minutes from the beach, shops and Swanage Steam Railway. We are also within easy reach of the Purbecks and Dorset coast where you will find superb diving, walking, cycling, climbing and bird watching opportunities. Swanage is part of the World Heritage site of the 'Jurassic Coast', which extends to Exmouth in Devon.
