Activities/Attractions: Amsterdam is a city of tolerance and diversity, with a population of around 750,000 people of myriad different ethnic groups and nationalities. The city is built around 165 canals, which provide not only a means of getting around but also living space for the large number of houseboats.

The city comes alive in the summer when the café terraces fill with tourists and locals alike, creating a buzzing and lively atmosphere. People flock to the Vondel park, cruise the canals on boats or ride around the city on their bicycles.

  • Amsterdam affords sightseers an almost bewildering embarrassment of riches
  • The city has 160 canals - more than Venice - with a combined length of 76km (47 miles), spanned by 1,281 bridges - also more than Venice
  • Hundreds of narrow streets to wander
  • Diamond cutters and craftspeople to watch as they practice generations-old skill
  • More than 40 museums of all types to visit
  • The Van Gogh Museum boasts the world's largest collection of his work, and the Rijksmuseum displays an incredible selection of the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer, de Hooch and other Dutch masters
  • Almost 7,000 historic buildings to see in the old center
  • The most moving experience will be had at the Anne Franks House
  • For those seeking attractions of architectural wonder, don't miss the Koninikljik Palace
  • Don't miss Dam Square, the heart of Amsterdam
  • The whole family will love the Artis Zoo

There are too many very nearby places of historical interest, museums, movie theaters, cafe's, restaurants and bars to name them all here!

"We've spent a very enjoyable few days getting to know a little of this beautiful city, and I don't think we could have chosen a better place to stay than here. A great apartment, on a fantastic location, we would recommend it to anyone - even the boat trip in the rain."

"The whole family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Anno, fantastic breakfast, excellent advice for sightseeing, the place is super clean and has a sunny and cosy atmosphere. Lovely flowers in the garden. The boat captain is young but experienced - we'll come again!"

"Your family and you have been our true friends for 17 years and we spent several fabulous holidays in Amsterdam staying with you. This renovation seems to be fantastic! We'll do our best to come and see all with our own eyes."

"Lovely flat, with everything you could need, and tastefully done. Fantastic place to see a fantastic city!"
