Activities/Attractions: Banbury is a market town in northern Oxfordshire, England, located on the River Cherwell. It is 64 miles (103 km) northwest of London, 38 miles (61 km) southeast of Birmingham, 27 miles (43 km) south of Coventry and 21 miles (34 km) north northwest of the county town of Oxford. The urban area, including surrounding parishes, has a population of circa 45000.

The town of Banbury is on the edge of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and has been a busy market town for centuries and is now also an important industrial centre which has grown considerably in size over the last half of the 20th century.

We are perfectly placed for a tour of the Cotswolds with its umpteen old and historic market towns, villages and curiosities of every kind. From Uplands House you can explore the Stratford of Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, go to the theatre and be back for a late dinner. You can visit Oxford with its many medieval colleges, and Woodstock and Blenheim Palace.

"Poppy is the most charming hostess you could ever wish to meet. She treated us as if we were family. Her home is beautiful, conversation enthralling and her cuisine exquisite. Many, many thanks for your hospitality, we will be back."

"A very pampering relaxing stay in a fabulous location with great hosts. Gorgeous food, toffee cake was delicious. It felt like we were on holiday. Arrived in business mode but left totally unwound. All the little touches were greatly appreciated. You have created a wonderful atmosphere."

"What a magnificent retreat into the Cotswolds this is! The warmth, the beauty, the comforts (bedding that wraps itself round you and makes you feel loved,) the food, the fine wines are all beyond comparison."

"Oh what joy to drop in on "friends" for the weekend. I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere where I have been treated as one of the family from the word go. Thank you both so much for a wonderful respite from noisy engines! And not forgetting the Polish connection."

"Our New Year’s eve at Uplands was memorable, the hospitality that flowed through the evening was fantastic and the impromptu dinner party was a great success and so very enjoyable. Your thoughtfulness makes everyone feel special."

"Had a wonderful time here at Uplands with Poppy and Graham. The lovely welcoming sight and aromas of the kitchen and the Chinese screen as you walk into the hall, the flowing wine and champagne, the making of the runny chocolate pudding together and its consumption, and of course the delightful company made my first New Year away from home an unforgettable experience."

"Hooray! At last I have found the perfect watering hole! It was a pleasure to stay with you, and thank you for the most excellent dinner."
