Activities/Attractions: Grattan Lodge is located virtually on the promenade, and is a scenic ten minutes walk to the city centre through the historical Claddagh. A ten minute walk in the opposite direction, along the promenade brings you to the village of Salthill. Galway City, known as the ‘city of the tribes’ with its seaside suburb of Salthill, is an important tourist centre and a gateway to the scenic areas and cultural attractions of the county.

  • Eyre Square: an open green park where one can relax
  • Statue of Paraic O’Connaire
  • Cannons: presented to the Connaught Rangers at the end of the Crimean War 1854-1856
  • The Fountain: Built in 1984, consists of a copper-coloured representation of the sails of the Galway Hooker

General Information: Welcome to Grattan Lodge in Salthill, Co. Galway, Ireland ... set adjacent to the sea beside Europe's Longest promenade and offering rooms fronting onto it. The stunning view changes by the hour because of the unique light. Grattan Lodge is a Bed & Breakfast of Irish character as all of the ensuite rooms contain vibrant paintings of the promenade, or other Irish Art to look at whilst enjoying breakfast. We are just ten minutes walk from the city centre. There is a quaint smokers area and an early breakfast will reveal a wonderful view from the large Dining room window.
