Activities/Attractions: The region of Apulia, also known as Puglia (its official Italian name), is another traditional and classical region in Italy with as enticing sights as anywhere in the country. Its topography, in fact, is already an interesting sight. Apulia is shaped like a heel that is perfect for the country's boot-shaped peninsula, thus earning the title of being "Italy's boot heel".

If you are looking to enjoy a wide range of different sights in a less congested and peaceful slice of Italy, the city of Apulia is definitely one of the places worth a visit. With majority of Apulian land being on a plain with a flat surface, the city has become a haven for cyclists and other outdoor sports of similar requirements.

The many cathedrals and sanctuaries around the region exist because during the earlier centuries, Apulia was the last bit of European soil seen by crusaders before embarking on dangerous exploits to unknown lands. The city's fame is also rooted on the abundance of vineyards and olive groves, which consequently produces two renowned Italian staples, wine and olive oil.

"A really fabulous stay in one of the prettiest Italian country villas I have ever stayed in. The restaurant is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Each room is individually furnished with genuine antique furniture. The courtyards are very picturesque and the swimming pool is surrounded by a garden of lemon trees. A lovely place to unwind in style."

"The place is absolutely fabulous, the staff are fabulous, and the owner is fabulous too, very theatrical and glamorous ... it is a great base to visit Puglia."

"This place has to be seen to be believed ... The setting is fantastically beautiful, the service by Sebastian and Lucia is excellent, the 5 course meals are sublime, the pool is fantastic and the rooms (well we had a suite!!) were unbelievable. All in all the Marzalossa is a ideal retreat for those wanting a bit of relaxing and peace. With only 12 or so bedrooms set in large grounds you can really escape from it all. Fasano itself has supermarkets and is surrounded in lovely little towns like Alberobello, Ostuni, Marina Franca, Locorotondo and further afield Massafra and Lecce. Go to this place if you are in the area. If not then go to this beautiful part of Italy and stay at the Marzalossa."
