Activities/Attractions: Bruges is called : 'the Venice of the North'. This splendid medieval city is one of Belgium's crown jewels. In no other European city the feel and the look of medieval times are so present as here in this city close to the North Sea.
Brugge is renowned for its medieval architecture everywhere in the old city centre and for its large-scale historical and traditional events. Its cultural offer is vast and accessible. No efforts are spared to please the visitors culture wise. Historical pageants and Burgundian feasts are inextricably bound up with Brugge.
Belgium is renowned for its excellent cuisine and Brugge stands for refined gastronomic delights, a city where tasting is an art, and where chefs endlessly combine tastes, shapes and colours.
Nearby Zeebrugge, the port of Brugge, is the perfect seaside resort. The beach is huge and the sea refreshing and safe. The vessels in the port evoke images of far-away horizons.
"This small hotel is located
walking distance to rail station (with great pictorial directions!) and
next to quiet and lovely park. Hotel owner/manager Chris is helpful,
breakfast is a substantial European buffet (cereal, yogurt, breads,
cheese, fruit, coffee, etc). Also in this city that "sleeps
early", next to a wonderful restaurant, De Bekoring, which we would
"Hotel Egmond was truly our home away from home. This hotel is not large and perhaps that's why it's so personable. We had a very spacious and well appointed room, with 2 big screened windows that over-looked a lovely verdant garden. The hotel was quiet and the beds comfortable. I particularly appreciated having 2 large pillows ... The staff were wonderful. If ever we showed an interest in anything or asked a question, they were right there with the answer ... We enjoyed spending the day sightseeing and coming back to this lovely little oasis to rest. If ever we are in Brugge again, we would stay at the Egmond Hotel."
"Brugge is a wonderful place to visit and Hotel Egmond is a perfect place to stay while exploring the city. It is located in one of the quieter parts of the city. The keepers are very helpful and breakfast is lovely. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would be where we would stay if we were to visit Brugge again."
"This place is a find. Very large bedroom overlooking a lovely garden and the Minnewater Park. Very attractive."
"Hotel Egmond has the look and feel of an old manor, while providing guests with modern amenities and comfort."
"I spent three nights at the Egmond. It was the perfect combination of comfort and convenience."
"Stayed 3 nights at this fantastic hotel! Just a short and pretty walk from rail station thanks to the wonderful pictorial directions supplied on their website. Our room was large and very pleasant overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens and Minnewater Park. It is on the outskirts of the town but blissfully peaceful. A beautiful retreat at the end of our busy day exploring this amazing town full of history, amazing architecture, chocolate shops and lace shops. There is so much to do in Brugge 3 days was not long enough ... I thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. Good value for money and it was lovely to return to a nice hot cup of complimentary tea or coffee and biscuits in the afternoon."
"My wife and I recommend this hotel if you look for a quiet and pleasant stay in Brugge. Friendly people and you feel immediately home. We surely come back there. I give it five stars."
"This is a wonderful small hotel. Very romantic. The rooms are nice and clean."
"This hotel was amazing. A former mansion converted to a B&B hotel. The location is the best in Brugge."

"It is within easy walking distance from the train station and if you're driving parking is available for 10 euros a night. We paid 112 euros for a huge room (#6) facing the park. Room was very clean with large windows and a nice sitting area. Bed was comfortable and small bathroom was kept clean. Breakfast is extensive and served in a well appointed dining room. Staff is friendly and can recommend restaurants in the area. Hotel is on the outskirts of Brugge and is about a 10-15 minute walk to the bell tower. However, the area is quiet and less touristy. Also recommend Quasimundo Bike Tours. We spend an afternoon on bike in the countryside and it was a wonderful break from Brugge which can be crowded with horses, cars and tourists. Highly recommend the Hotel Egmond for a relaxed stay in historic Brugge."
"My wife and I, accompanied by my parents, have just returned from a five day break at the Hotel Egmond in Bruges. This must be our seventh return to the Hotel Egmond - a delightful hotel situated within its own peaceful and tranquil grounds, and within walking distance of the old part of Bruges, not far from the famous Beguinage and Lake of Love. As always, the Family Van Laere looked after us extremely well, with Kris in great form and chatty on the front desk. Each time we stay, we are treated as family hence the reason for our return at least twice a year. Our recent return was no different - the Hotel Egmond, an 18th century manor, offers a beautiful and plentiful continental breakfast in the dining room overlooking the gardens. Car parking, which is often difficult to find in Bruges, is provided. The hotel is close to the Maximillian restaurant which is well worth a visit for evening dinner. An excellent stay again, and thanks to the Family van Laere and Kris for a peaceful and restful stay. Thank you."
"My wife and I were lucky enough to stay three nights at this charming renovated mansion next to the Minnewater Lake. There are only eight rooms, all nice sized with ensuite bathroom. We stayed two nights in room #2, which is larger, on the first floor, and opens directly out into the mansion's beautiful garden. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good and plentiful."
